Problem
You're seeing an error message when trying to post to YouTube that says "insufficient permissions" or "Request had insufficient authentication scopes."
Why This Happens
YouTube requires specific permissions to upload videos. If your YouTube account was connected before we added video upload capabilities, or if permissions were changed on YouTube's side, your stored access token won't have the necessary upload permissions.
Solution
You need to disconnect and then reconnect your YouTube account to grant the proper permissions:
1. Go to this page while signed into your google account that is connected to your problematic youtube account and revoke access from post-bridge
2. Go to the accounts section in post bridge, Find your YouTube account → Look for the YouTube account that's failing
3. Disconnect the account → Click the disconnect/remove button for that account (Note: this will remove this account from any scheduled posts using it)
4. Reconnect YouTube → Click "Add Account" and select YouTube Channel
5. Grant all permissions → When YouTube asks for permissions, make sure to approve all of them, especially:
- Upload videos to YouTube
- Manage your YouTube videos
- View your YouTube account
Important Notes
- You WILL lose any scheduled posts when fully disconnecting and then reconnecting
- This process takes less than 2 minutes
- Make sure you're logged into the correct YouTube/Google account before reconnecting
Still Having Issues?
If you continue to experience problems after reconnecting, please contact support with:
- The exact error message you're seeing
- Which YouTube channel you're trying to post to
- When you last successfully posted to YouTube
This is a one-time fix - once you've reconnected with the proper permissions, your posts should work normally going forward.
